Home Trends for Fall
As we start to wind down July, it's hard to believe, but Fall is just around the corner. We're looking at some striking new trends and colors that complement the tones of the Fall season nicely. From the Pinterest boards to the designers at the furniture houses, the consensus is that we all need a few changes to the home and when you see these, you'll see they're going to be big .
Dark green is the new style color. Dark green paint, accents and wood are all on the table for a beautiful woodsy look to your home. Perhaps a take-off of Panetone's color of the year in the herb green tone, this darker shade stays true to the look of nature but is a bit more understated. There was a lot of disgruntled panelists who thought the bright green color of the year missed the mark so we think they will be happier with this more subdued shade for interior design. Still bringing a little bit of nature into the home. The hunter green shade mixes well with natural wood floors, leather furnishings and accents and brass and cream features. It presents a warm, cozy pallet for your home in the Fall.
And relaxing atmosphere is the keyword as relaxation areas or rooms on are tap for those looking to carve our more intimate and tech free areas of their homes. If not a separate room, perhaps the bedroom can be the place to unplug. Surrounding the bed with canopies or rich, heavy curtains each descending from wood or faux wood beams will be a beautiful design feature. Make sure there's a comfortable chair and reading nook with lots of blankets that are compliments to the fall colors.
What could be more comfortable than adding velvet fabric to the mix. Perhaps as a matching shade of the darker paint, this accent in pillows can be the way to bring the house paint color in additional dashes in decorating. Woven fabrics continue the back to nature trend and add a mix of wood based colors to the mix. Wicker baskets and stands, light fixtures made of bamboo and mirrors with faux woven wood or wicker exterior gives a warm look.
Brass is becoming the new copper and is being brought into furniture pieces as frames for beds, couches and chairs. Smaller ways to introduce the lighter metal would be in lamps or table display pieces made of brass or brass elements which will give the pop of the reflective bright color.
Many paint manufacturers announced various shades of black as their color of the year. Olympic Paint offered three shades of black for their fall lineup including Black Flame, Deep Onxy and Black Magic. Quite a stark assortment from last year's white and gray. So we are looking forward to working with this bold new statement of color that weaves into the return to nature and dark green forest patterns of design.
While you won't see full walls of black paint, the accent walls in a home have given way to accent ceilings. Textured paints are making a comeback as well as embossed foam ceiling tiles that hold these beautiful new paint colors and are contrasted with wood beams.
These new trends are sure to please homeowners with an eye for nature but who want the warmer tones of fall and rustic colors in their home.
